Why Lundy? Those who’ve already been will need no explanation, but for the rest of you, there are four miles of golden granite cliffs (similar to the best of Cornish granite but in a wilder setting), fabulous cliff scenery – the Flying Buttress, the Devils’s Slide, the Devil’s Punchbowl and several other legacies of Old Nick and guaranteed sightings of seals and other marine life. Add to that weather which is nearly always better than the mainland, a lovely pub within crawling distance of the campsite, and a supremely chilled atmosphere – largely as there are no roads on the island.
