Location: Bowles Rocks Tunbridge Wells
A one day trip to the Southern Sandstone of Bowles Rocks, an hour and a half’s drive from London.
The club will coordinate transport and set up ropes and anchors. prospective new members, all you need is your harness, belay device and rock shoes and money for the venue’s £5 entrance fee (and the pub!). We ask that you attend a short course at a climbing wall in advance to learn how to tie in and belay safely, if you need to.
If you haven’t climbed outside before, sandstone is an unusual rock – you’ll experience better friction on other types of rock more common to UK crags. But it’s close to London and it’ll be fun.
We’ll head to a nearby pub for food and drinks afterwards.
Existing members please join us to welcome prospective new members!
Find out about the venue here: http://www.bowles.ac/outdoor-activities/rock-climbing
Keep Sunday 9th in reserve as we’ll move the day if it’s wet on the Saturday.
New and existing members please contact socialsec@themmc.org.uk to enquire and arrange transport.
