BMC Winter Lecture: 11th March

University College London, Edward Lewis Theatre, Windeyer Building, Cleveland Street, London.

If you're looking for some alpine advice, or want to hear some entertaining tales of alpine adventure, then come along to the BMC Alpine Lecture Series, a series of interactive lectures aimed at making you aware of the skills you need to acquire in order to operate safely and enjoyably in an Alpine environment.

Presented by IFMGA mountain guides Rich Cross and Al Powell, the lectures will cover the best areas to visit, Glacier Travel, Weather Forecasting, Huts & Bivis, Avalanche Awareness, Route Selection and Moving Together, plus a dollop of expert advice gained over years of experience. As both lecturers are exceptionally motivated and talented mountaineers you can expect enough alpine adventure and mis-behaviour stories to inspire even the most dedicated armchair mountaineer. Whether you're planning your first alpine season, heading back to tackle something more ambitious, or just have a general interest in walking and mountaineering, this should be your first stop.

Lectures start at 6.45pm. Tickets can be booked via the BMC office on 0870 010 4878, or you can pay on the door.

Prices: £4 BMC members / £6 non-members. Call for advance group bookings at great discounts - buy 10 tickets or more at £2.50 each.

Club Library

The club has an ever expanding collection of books for use by members. These include climbing and walking guides, as well as guides to first aid, navigation, mountain weather etc. For a complete list check out the library.
