Do you want to be inspired and pick up some top tips from the experts? This year’s Winter Lectures will be presented by IFMGA Mountain Guides Martin Moran and Mike ‘Twid’ Turner. Martin runs a busy guiding business based in the NW of Scotland and has written a number of very successful books on mountaineering. Twid was until recently Head of Rock-climbing at Plas Y Brenin before leaving to concentrate on private guiding work. Both have vast experience in the Scottish mountains over many years and will be sure to educate and inspire you to enjoy everything that the Winter Mountains can throw at you.

This series is aimed at making you aware of the skills you need to acquire to operate safely in a winter environment. As applicable to winter walkers as it is to winter climbers topics covered will include: equipment and clothing, navigation, footwork, planning, avalanche awareness, belays and much more.

There will no doubt be a host of humorous tales from which you can glean valuable advice at someone else’s expense and thereby hopefully avoid making the same mistakes yourself.

Tickets will be available in advance from the BMC office, or you can buy on the door on the night. Price £4.00 BMC members and all Trail readers, £6.00 non-members. Group discounts available (advance bookings only). If buying tickets on the door please bring your membership identity or mountaineering club card with you. Mention Trail to get your discount if you are not a BMC member.
