It is but a few short weeks till Christmas and what better activity after Christmas than to prise yourself off the sofa, set your woolly hat at a rakish angle and sally forth for a healthy tramp across the Scottish mountains. Yes its the MMC New Years Hootenanny at Graigower Lodge, Newtonmore in the Cairngorms.

This is an excellent location for winter climbing, walking, cross country skiing and if you are lucky downhill skiing. Some say that the Scots dour, sour-faced types ruing the state of their sports teams and the fact that the English have nabbed the best end of the island but they do put on a good Hogmany show and Newtonmore is famous for its torchlit processions, sinister affairs full of Whickerman pagan lore and brooding malice.

Also word has it that "Big Ted" Marler is flying in from Cathay specially to hand out the Ferrero Rocher so you won't want to miss that!
