Your club needs you! Meets don't just happen on their own. The club is always in search of meets organisers to make things happen. Planning to go to a meet? Why not volunteer to be a meets organiser? Get in touch with us at Nancy if you'd like to volunteer. Before she makes you do it anyway. Alway pick a meet you'll enjoy going on. :)

No Bloomin' Meet Reports

Obviously these paragraphs are supposed to be filled with exciting reports about our climbing, Mountaineering (well Rockets anyhow) and walking. However it appears a reminder is in order. If you organise the meet your final duty is to collect together peoples comments and meet activities plus take a note of ant fwitery. If as meet organiser your not going on the meet it is imperative to delegate this responsibility to an appropriate adult... (or at least someone good at telling tall tales)

So instead here is the very social Mary-Le-Bone Marriage Club announcements for the last couple of months. Appologies for any missed announcements - all good gossip gratefully received.

Michael proposed to Petra over new year. Rumour has it though his czech isn't up to asking her father for his daughters hand in marriage however still his cheque is still solvent - for now at least.

Clare and Brendon are now delighted if sleep deprived parents of Juliette Emily Miller, born 3 February at 8:30am, arrived into the biggest snow storm seen in the UK in the last 20 years. Bodes well for future mountaineering potential if her timing is anything to go by :)

Nevile and Amy's nuptuals were a roaring success in the good ole US of A. Whether Nevile is still talking to Simon MC after simon bunked off his stag do to go sking instead has not been reported to my ears

Cheryl, Andy E's Kiwi adventure is due to start in July. Apparently the Kiwi dollar is sliding faster than the pound in your pocket so all things are go on that front.

Jules damaged her knee ligaments skiing hardcore black runs in Les Arcs. She is hoping a bit of physio gets her back on her feet but she is currently signed off work at the moment and is definitely not dancing for a while. The all-terrain crutches were quite something. Jules Poorly Knee Pictures

Pub Nights

The committee has decided not to keep meeting at Dirty Dicks, Bishopsgate. But is instead will be sent out more ad-hoc basis by Michael Contact membership@themmc.org.uk if you are a prospective new member, please get in touch with michael or look up your nearest wall and see which night we meet there.

Training

People don't improve their climbing by accident. You need to practice. So if you want to up your grade, start leading or just not continue as a V.diff bumbler for the rest of your life come to the wall and practice. Fairly regular sessions are now taking place at the Westway and the Castle as follows:
Sunday afternoon at the Castle contact Patrick Regnault patrick@themmc.org.uk
Tuesday evening at the Westway contact Nick Kemp newsletter@themmc.org.uk
Thursday eveing at the Westway contact Simon Menzies-Conacher maverick@themmc.org.uk

Copy

Deadline for copy for the next newsletter is April 20th. Please send all copy to Robin at newsletter@themmc.org.uk. Ok so this newsletter is missing meet reports but obviously people are out there enjoying themselves rather than writing it down. There are three meets in quick succession so its time to dust off your tents and let get climbing, bouldering and walking. Please contact the organisers directly if you are coming on the meet. Then it will be time of the longer may bank holiday trips.

Club Library

The club has an ever expanding collection of books for use by members. These include climbing and walking guides, as well as guides to first aid, navigation, mountain weather etc. For a complete list check out the website.

Be part of it! It's time for a bit of face lift for our erstwhile website. So what is good and what is bad? What should remain and what should we add? Please send your thoughts and ideas to webmaster@themmc.org.uk

Safety

There have been some fairly poor practices noticed of late. Climbing is dangerous and accidents do happen. Please look at this section of the website or try and go on a course if you have any doubts about your ability.
