SUMMARY:Yorkshire
DESCRIPTION:We’re off to the lovely Yorkshire! \nFor the climbers\, you won’t have that far to go to find Malham Cove (for the hardcore amongst you) \nWe’ll be in the perfect spot for walkers\, with plenty on the doorstep. If you’re wanting an extra challenge\, you can take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge: https://www.threepeakschallenge.uk/yorkshire-three-peaks-challenge/  \nIf you were wondering: the three peaks – Pen-y-Ghent (694 metres)\, Whernside (736 metres) and Ingleborough (723 metres)\, usually completed in this order in under 12 hours. And with the extra sunlight\, you’ll have a nice amount of daylight to do it in! \n\nDate: Friday 2nd May – Monday 5th May 2025\nTime: When you or your travelling group is ready!\nLocation: TBC (most likely Dalesbridge Campsite)\nOrganiser: TBC\, in the meantime contact meets@themmc.org.uk – especially if you would like to volunteer!\nSign-up Form: Coming soon!\n\nTo our Prospective Members – we support our members in showing the ropes to new climbers\, however please recognise if you haven’t had any trad-climbing training yet as a seconder or have had regular indoor rope experience (for sport climbing)\, you may be requested to join the walking group(s) if the climbing leaders do not feel comfortable to take you out. This is a decision we will support. \nThe BMC recognises that climbing and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions.

SUMMARY:Social Climb: The Castle
DESCRIPTION:The Castle is home to many of our members – some even call it their spiritual home\, so let’s go there and join them for an afternoon of climbing! \n\nDate: Sunday 18 May  2025\nTime: 12pm – 5pm\nClosest Station: Manor House Underground Station (Piccadilly Line)\nOrganiser: Mo  socialsec@themmc.org.uk\nSign up: https://forms.gle/c7q2iuoSg3fbbGkv6 \nPub/Foods: From 3pm we’ll go to The Brownswood Pub: https://thebrownswood.co.uk/ for some food\, snacks\, and chatter.\n\n\nProspectives – All prospective members to the club must let us know they are joining us so we can look out for you\, and as a prerequisite to joining our Bowles climbing meet on May the 31st\, and our trad Peak District climbing training meet in June\, all prospective members will need an official belay check\, so please join us on this social to check your belay technique. \nMembers – you’re more than welcome to join! Let us know if you’re coming along. \nNon-Castle members will need to pre-book or pay on arrival. Please check their website.  \nIf you do not have your own climbing shoes\, harness or belay device you should be able to hire them from their shop. \nIf you want to lead climb\, we would suggest you bring your own single rope. A 30m rope would be ideal\, but any length will work. \nThis is not a training session\, but we should have experienced members on hand to observe your belaying technique if you are new to the club\, or you’d like us to observe any rusty skills post-long periods off climbing. \nThe BMC recognises that climbing and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions.
