SUMMARY:Walking Social: Folkestone to Dover
DESCRIPTION:Folkestone Central to Dover is a lovely long walk along the coastline including seafood food trucks\, concrete world war II installations and chalk cliffs that we’re not allowed to climb – for good reason!\n\n \n\n\nThe aim is to go via The Warren which will give us the opportunity to walk along the Edwardian concrete platforms at the beach\, over the old railway and up through dense trees to the Cliff Top Cafe for Lunch. This is the only serious incline of the route. The tide and weather may change this.\n\n\n \n\n\nhttps://www.walkingclub.org.uk/walk/folkestone-to-dover/\n\n\n \n\n\nPlease let me know if you’re coming – I’ll need to know who wants to come so I know who to wait for: socialsec@themmc.org.uk\n\n\n \n\n\nDistance: Approx. 8-10 miles. The lesser number if we decide we’d rather find a pub than go for more exploration once we get into Dover.\n\n\n \n\n\nTime & Route: \n09:34 from St Pancras International to Dover Priory for 10:41. Usually Platform 11 or 12. We recommend a return ticket\, but please feel free to choose otherwise.\nThe Folkestone Central stop is at 10:30. \nThis is the fast service (~ 1 hour)\, all other services take ~ 2 hours. \n \nThe tide might determine that we have to leave the station soon after arrival but if we’re expecting you\, we’ll wait of course! We could aim for the train at 08:37 if there is popular demand for an earlier start.\n\n \n\nTime we get into Dover: Around 17:00 based on a casual strolling pace and a lunch stop at the cafe. Earlier most likely!
