DESCRIPTION:Get your 2020’s off to a good start and have something to look forward to when Christmas is a distant memory next early next January.\n \nWhat\, when where etc.\n \nWe are staying at this hut Friday 17th to Sunday 19th January: https://buryhostel.org.uk/\n \n“A well-equipped\, centrally-heated hostel at Greenside\, near Glenridding\, overlooking Ullswater\, the second largest lake in the Lake District.”\n \nPlenty of winter climbing and walking available weather/conditions dependent as always.\n \nA note on kit\n \nA good basic kit list info can be found here on our site: https://themmc.org.uk/2015/02/walking/\n \n– You need to bring own bedding\, preferably sleeping bags\, pillows\, towels and tea towels.\n– Also food! Once final numbers are confirmed\, the pub will be booked for Saturday night. Other than that\, the trip is self catering so bring everything you’ll need for all other meals.\n \nWe are required to leave the hostel in the same clean and tidy condition as we find it. This means we will need to sweep/mop\, clean and empty bins.\n \nA note on safety\n \nThe mountains and hills can be dangerous places\, especially in the winter. Some routes will be impossible and/or dangerous without crampons and a walking axe. If you’re unsure of what a plan for the day might include or are not completely comfortable please please ask around before committing to join that group or activity. We’ll all be more than happy to talk kit and there’s always easier walks/routes so there should be something for any experience level or tastes!\n \nGetting there\n \nObviously it’s a fair old drive up there\, so if you’re able and want to\, taking the Friday off would be advisable. The trip Organiser has booked the Friday off and will hire a car so there’ll be at least one heading up Friday morning.\n \n
