SUMMARY:Brecon Beacons
DESCRIPTION:With the slide into a crisp (fingers crossed!) Autumn\,we head to the majestic Brecon Beacons\, or Bannau Brycheiniog to give it the proper Welsh name. \n \nWe’ll be staying at the Croydon Cavers Hut ‘Godre Pentre’ (Welsh for end-of-the-village) which is situated in the village of Ystradfellte between Abadare and Brecon. \n \nDinas Rock is just down the road\, which has some of the best climbing in SE Wales. It’s mostly single-pitch routes up to 30m in length\, most of which are now sport climbs. It is described as high quality limestone\, covered with overlaps\, roofs\, subtle grooves and water-worn features\, although apparently there are routes that are not hard as nails. If you are hard as nails\, it also has some of the hardest bouldering in Wales. UKC Logbook – Dinas Rock and there are trad routes nearby at Cefn Coed Craig y Nos crags.\n \nHappily it’s not all about the climbing\, this National Park provides spectacular walking and hiking opportunities\, the 4 waterfalls walk can start straight from the hut Ystradfellte\, Powys (Free Route) – Ramblers or you can venture further afield to the classic Pen Y Fan and beyond Five great places to walk in the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) | Visit Wales\nSign Up Here: Brecon Beacons Sign Up Form
