DESCRIPTION:Happy 2026 MMC! Our Ogwen Valley Winter Meet is coming up\, offering a great opportunity to get out into the mountains of North Wales for winter climbing\, mountaineering and scenic hill walking\, well suited to a range of abilities. \nThis meet is open to both newer and more experienced members. It is a good chance to build winter confidence\, climb with others\, and enjoy a sociable weekend in a fantastic setting. \n\nWe will be staying at the cosy Ogwen Valley Bunkhouse\, which provides a warm and sociable base surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery\, excellent nature walks\, and easy access to a wide range of mountains and hills.\n \n \n\n\nDate: Friday January 16th – Sunday 18th 2026\nTime: When you or your travelling group is ready!\nLocation: Ogwen Valley Bunkhouse – http://ogwenvalleybunkhouse.co.uk/\nOrganiser: Mo –  socialsec@themmc.org.uk\nSign-Up Form: North Wales Winter 2026 Sign Up Form\n\n  \nPlease do get in touch with us as soon as possible if you’re interested in joining us and have any questions. \nTo our Prospective Members – we support our members in showing the ropes to new hikers\, however please recognise if you haven’t had any summer hiking experience or lack the relevant winter related gear\, you may be requested to reconsider your hiking plans to areas more suitable to inexperienced winter walking / walk on flatter ground if the members do not feel comfortable to take you out. This is a decision we will support. \nThe BMC recognises that climbing and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Please check their website.  \nIf you do not have your own climbing shoes\, harness or belay device you should be able to hire them from their shop. \nIf you want to lead climb\, we would suggest you bring your own single rope. A 30m rope would be ideal\, but any length will work. \nThis is not a training session\, but we should have experienced members on hand to observe your belaying technique if you are new to the club\, or you’d like us to observe any rusty skills post-long periods off climbing. \nThe BMC recognises that climbing and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death.
