At Euston station Mohamed coordinated the group and met Alix, David and Cornelia at Tring. The day started fine and dry as everyone set out towards Aldbury and the start of the walk.
The ‘social’ in social walk shone through as veterans of the MMC mixed with current and prospective members. Mohamed, Mira, Martine and Mathias were joined by Max and Matthew, Jeanette, Francesca, Sophie and Cornelia. Jules and Edmund caught up on a twenty year break. Roji the dog kept up with the pace. Alix and David book-ended the party.
The walk up onto Ashridge quickly led to the cafe near the monument and a brief caffeine and water refill. The weather continued to improve as the group emerged from the woods onto Ivinghoe Beacon to sunshine and 360 views.
Returning via Pitstone Hill, Mo and Mira turned back for the station as the rest of the group headed for the Grehound in Aldbury. The pub did a great job of producing a table full of hearty meals and drinks in short order.
It was getting chilly as we set off back to the station. A good day was had by all.
