On Saturday, despite the rain, Phil, Stephanie, Damien and Sarah W walked west along the coast. The weather cleared, and they saw several seals in secluded coves, including a mother suckling a baby. On arrival at Whitesands Bay, two of the party swam in the sea under grey skies. The group then returned along inland paths and lanes back to the Porth Clais campsite. Possibly more wisely, Sarah G first headed into St David’s to see the cathedral, then, once the rain had cleared, walked out to St Justinian’s and the RNLI station, then back to the campsite. In the afternoon, late arrivals Alix and Katherine walked part of the coast path to just south of St Justinian’s – they too saw and smelled(!) a seal – before, like the other walkers, circling back. Activities of other potential climbers, David, Rick, Angela and Satish, remain unrecorded.  Robin and Vita were likewise independent.

On Sunday, even though the weather did not look promising David, Rick, Angela, Damien, Stephanie and Satish made their way to Craig Caerfai hoping to get at least one climb before the wet came in. As it turned out, the weather was fine and they all managed four or five. An amazing day of climbing on the Pembrokeshire coast! Meanwhile, walkers Alix, Katherine, Phil, Sarah G and Sarah W went east to Solva. They ducked out of a momentary shower at the cute café in the harbour, then took the bus back into St Davids. Sarah G and Phil visited the Bishop’s Palace there. Phil also went back to the coast to see St Non’s Chapel. That night, the whole meet, thirteen people in all, had a group dinner at The Bishops in St David’s.

On Monday, a beautiful and blowy day, David and Katherine did three routes at Porthclais, Katherine consolidating her Severe leads on Diagonal Crack and Redwall. Alix was delighted to tag along on the rope for Redwall. Meanwhile, Stephanie, Damien, Phil and Sarah G went to Whitesands Bay. Stephanie and Damien did some climbing; Sarah and Phil walked north, summiting the outcrops inland, diverting to Penmaen Dewi, on to Penllechwen, then Carreg yr Afr, and returning to the beach via the coastal path. Satish and Sarah W also went to the beach at Whitesands Bay – Sarah had a gorgeous swim in the surf and sun. Robin and Vita are rumoured to have gone east to swim at Solva or beyond. Rick and Angela’s whereabouts are unrecorded.

As the last to leave on Tuesday, David, Alix and Katherine went to Whitesands Bay in the morning where two of the three also swam before wending home.
