An opportunity to blow off the mid winter blues. We are lucky to have sole use of a large, well equipped and extremely well located bunkhouse in Glenridding directly adjacent to the Helvellyn track. At this time of year expect wintry conditions and plenty of opportunities for mountaineering, fell walking and long sessions in a cosy Lakeland pub.
BUNK HOUSE INFO & DIRECTIONS:
Glenridding is about two hours drive from Bury in the north east Lake District. The hostel is at the head of the Greenside Road along with other remaining buildings from the old Greenside mines complex which are also mainly hostels today. It is about a mile from Glenriddding village at grid reference NY364174.
The centre has bunk-bed dormitory accommodation for 28 people plus 2 beds on the ground floor next to an easy access bathroom. Each of the three bedrooms upstairs has its own en suite bathroom facilities. There is a well-equipped kitchen which has all the facilities needed to cater for large groups. There is a drying room and a payphone. The whole building is centrally heated and there is a wood burning stove in the common/dining room, which had enough tables and chairs for a full booking.
