The first bunkhouse meet of the autumn, the Peak District’s Roaches is described as “a place of pilgrimage for disciples of fist-jamming and pebble-pulling, a site of ritual observance for devout boulderers”. The gritstone here is diverse with classic routes across every grade from pleasant VDiffs through to E8 testpieces.

One of the most dramatic landscapes in Britain, the Roaches also offers interesting walking, including a circular route in the footsteps of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Step back to the 14^th-century as you head along the ridge and then down the far side through a magical fairytale forest.

For those with the need for speed, there’s also the chance to go mountain biking not far from the Roaches too!
