The Roaches, situated on the western side of the Peak District, is probably best known for its classic gritstone climbing on a par with the gritstone edges in the east (Stanage, Froggatt, Birchen etc). Wonderful trad gritstone climbing across a wide range of grades. Suitable for beginner trad climbers and more experienced alike. The area also makes an ideal base for walking and mountain biking.
We’re staying at the incredibly well located Roaches Bunkhouse which is not only within walking distance of the crags but a mere 150m stagger from the local pub (the Ye Old Rock Inn in Upper Hulme) and 1/2 a mile from the Roaches Tea Rooms.
