The Bowles Website has an update stating there is a Private Event on, so we’re switching to Harrison’s Rocks. The location is close to Bowles. Everyone travelling by train should try to meet together so we can take the route from the station together.

Bowles Rocks is one of the more popular Southern Sandstone outcrops of southeast England, a soft sandstone of Cretaceous age near Tunbridge Wells.

It is deservedly popular as it is a great spot for people of all ages and abilities to climb, with convenient onsite facilities and parking.

Experienced climbers will be on hand to set up top roped routes for everyone to have a go on, so come on down and meet the club.

If you haven’t met us before please let us know, we’ll try to meet you at the Castle the weekend before.

Caveats: There may be last minute changes as a result of bad weather, as climbing on the soft sandstone in anything other than good/dry conditions is very damaging to the rock.

• All attendees must have their own climbing shoes and harness. It would be very helpful if you also brought your own belay device and locking carabiner.  If you have a helmet, it’s your choice whether to bring it or not. Chalk is not forbidden, but discouraged due to its effect on the rock, and please leave your chalk brushes at home.

If you have have a 30m rope, slings, or carabiners please let us know if you are able to bring them for the day so we can set up additional routes. An old towel or mat to clean our shoes on before climbing will help us preserve the rock also.

This is not a training session but we will have experienced members on hand to observe your belaying technique if you are new to the club or you’d like us to observe any rusty skills post-long periods off climbing.
