We return to our favourite winter haunt, the Lake District!
January is a fabulous time to visit the Lake District. We will be staying in the heart of southern Lakeland near Coniston, part way up a fell. The club have used this atmospheric ex-miners cottage before and have set out from the door to tackle the Coniston fells, and also driven to reach peaks such as Helvelyn, Fairfield/St Sunday, as well as many other walks, scrambles, climbs and ridge walks you won’t want to miss. If we’re in luck we may have some white stuff! Get out your route books and start making your plans!
There are several pubs in nearby Coniston, and the splendid cafe at Brantwood, the historic home of John Ruskin.
Spaces in the bunkhouse are limited to 14. Please complete the booking form. First come, first served. The Cottage are happy to extend their weekend for those interested.

To our Prospective Members – we support our members in showing the ropes to new hikers, however please recognise if you haven’t had any summer hiking experience or lack the relevant winter related gear, you may be requested to reconsider your hiking plans to areas more suitable to inexperienced winter walking / walk on flatter ground if the members do not feel comfortable to take you out. This is a decision we will support.
